Thursday, October 2, 2008 at 08:26PM Yummy KIDS LUNCH IDEAS for restricted diets!
- Open Sandwiches - There is a lot of gluten free bread on the market where we live but the only thing we have to watch is that most of it contains dairy products and still leaves you feeling a bit tired after eating. I have found a fabulous pre-mix for bread but any gluten and dairy free bread mix would be fine. Yes! unfortunately the cheapest and easiest way to replace bread is to make your own. The one I use contains baking soda and tapioca starch; it is really really fluffly and the closest texture to normal bread. I think it's the potato flour that makes the bread havy and too firm for kids to manage. Look at these yummy toppings! My kids have really learned to love salad and flavor instead of just eating bread. You can put anything out in a tapas style and when presented in a beautiful manner, you would be surprised what you can convince fussy kids to eat. Dietarty restrictions on kids can be really really tough, but I have found that the tapas lunch is really quick and really easy.

Thursday, October 2, 2008 at 07:42PM My kids are cooking up yummy treats that we can eat on our restricted diet...
This one was an adaptation from the Edmonds cookery Book from New Zealand. As we are trying to combat behavior problems and allergy problems with diet modification, I thought it was a good time to make up fun cooking games that involve yummy ingredients and imagination...
As far as cooking games for kids go, this one is perhaps the best for imagination and cake decoration skill. My kids were working on these cakes for about two and a half hours!
Kids Cooking Games - Yummy Fudge Balls

BLISS BALLS
Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Sugar Free, Wheat Free and Egg Free Recipe that's delicious!Wow you must try this yummy recipe for gluten free, wheat free and dairy free fudge balls!
If you and/or your kids are on a restricted diet then I can totally relate to the challenges involved. My son has some sensory processing disorder as discovered on a QEEG scan done my a lovely practitioner here in Australia. His body is extremely sensitive to foods that cause digestive stress for his body. Interestingly enough, when we did the elimination diet, I noticed that I also had severe sensitivities to gluten, dairy and preservatives. So now, our family is gluten free, dairy free, wheat free and preservative free. Ocean does not eat tomatoes either and we keep all of our household products including cleaning detergent, sprays and personal hygiene strictly organic and free of sulfur and other harmful intoxicants.
This is great, we feel so healthy and alive and Ocean's tricky behavior has completely disappeared. i no longer feel bloated and tired. I no longer have pre-menstrual stress, tension or period pain of any kind. My joints no longer ache and nobody has bad breath anymore. There are just so so many benefits of healthy eating for kids and their mommies too!

Active Kids - Teaching Natural Water Safety Skills
Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at 05:09PM Another beautiful day swimming and hanging out with the kids at the local waterhole.
Seems like Summer is really here in the southern hemisphere and here in Maleny Qld, we are all set to live it up at the local creeks and waterfalls. There is nothing like a few rocks and trees to climb, cool running water and good company to entertain the kids for hours.

Kids Activity Games For Kids - Kids Outdoor Games
Monday, August 25, 2008 at 10:15PM
Three Kids Outdoor Games that are also Kids Indoor Games and great Team Building Games for Kids!
As an experienced Girl Guide leader and mother of a home schooling family I have learned to keep a few fun games for kids up my sleeve that don't require any equipment or setting up. Teachers also require this directory of kids games in their head so that they can entertain children at the drop of a hat. Parents also benefit from having some boredom busters on the back burner because teaching kids in any capacity is very unpredictable. It's great if you can be armed and ready for the next block of time that needs filling and avoid kids boredom issues.
If you have youth groups, children's workshop or kids party on your schedule then you might like to include some team building games for kids. The free games for kids below are normally kids outdoor games but they can easily be played indoors on a rainy day as well.
